Spotlight on Current Industry Issues
Take Action
Advocacy is a top priority for PBF. Make the voice of all sectors of the beauty industry heard. It's easy to take action, and your involvement can be as limited or as extensive as you want. Lawmakers and the media need to hear from our industry about the obstacles and challenges we face every day. You can make an impact.
Contact Your Lawmakers or the Media
Be an advocate for our industry by contacting your elected officials, monitoring the issues, learning more about federal and state elections, and/or speaking to the media. Write, call or fax them about the issues that are affecting your small business.
Participate in "Welcome to Our World" | Washington, DC
Welcome to Our World is one of Capitol Hill's most popular learning events where the beauty industry welcomes Members of Congress to "our world." The industry creates a salon setting on Capitol Hill and provides complimentary services to our nation's policymakers. We use this opportunity to talk about the professional beauty industry's key issues, including access to cosmetology education, consumer protection, equitable taxation, fairness in financial aid for our students, and small business support.
Are you a beauty professional interested in volunteering to perform services or help organize Welcome To Our World? Call 800.211.4872 ext. 3451 for more information or email professionalbeautyfederation@gmail.com.
Educate Your Employees
More than 50 percent of working Americans are employed by small businesses. It is essential for employees of small businesses to be aware of how an issue or election can directly affect them, either in their paychecks, health insurance coverage, or the very survival of the business they work for. Learn how to effectively discuss relevant issues with your employees, friends and family members. Contact PBF at professionalbeautyfederation@gmail.com for more information.
